{"id":365,"date":"2018-03-15T18:56:57","date_gmt":"2018-03-15T18:56:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/drkarenhudes.ca\/?p=365"},"modified":"2018-03-15T18:56:57","modified_gmt":"2018-03-15T18:56:57","slug":"core-stability-exercise-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/drkarenhudes.ca\/index.php\/2018\/03\/15\/core-stability-exercise-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Core Stability Exercise #3 &#8220;Resisted Side Steps&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong>Resisted Side Stepping<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>In our series on core stability we are on week number 3 which brings us to Resisted Side Stepping.\u00a0 This is a great core stability exercise and this chiropractor gives it to many of her patients to build good core strength.\u00a0 Good core stability helps prevent lower back pain.<\/p>\n<p>If I am really lucky I have finally figured out how to get my own YouTube Channel, upload this video and imbed the link in this blog post.\u00a0 I have been trying to make my videos short but feel rushed and they end up being too long for this site so hopefully this is a tech solution for this chiro who is trying to learn the tech!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Equipment<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Ok so for this exercise you do need one piece of equipment and that is a resistance band.\u00a0 You can use a large rubber band like I have in this video or something like theraband which is easily found at a sports store or your chiropractors office in many cases.\u00a0 Start with a light resistance because this silly little exercise can be quite challenging.\u00a0 If you have no idea what I am talking about when I say resistance or exercise band see the picture below &#8211; it is essentially stretchy material that will provide resistance at the ankle level during this exercise.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-370\" src=\"http:\/\/drkarenhudes.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/theraband.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/drkarenhudes.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/theraband.png 225w, https:\/\/drkarenhudes.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/theraband-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/drkarenhudes.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/theraband-100x100.png 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>How to do this Core Stability Exercise:<\/h3>\n<p>Start by bracing &#8211; that is contracting your stomach muscles (see exercise #1).<\/p>\n<p>Then hands on hips, band around ankles and bend knees.<\/p>\n<p>Take steps to the side one direction 5-10 times and then the other.<\/p>\n<p>Make sure not to waddle!<\/p>\n<h1>Video<\/h1>\n<p>For the video please click on the link to my YouTube video link\u00a0below!
